Personal Protection Class for Women
The Personal Protection Class for Women offered by TAPPS is designed to help women identify and avoid potentially dangerous situations. Should such a situation become unavoidable, students will learn practical and effective skills in dealing with potentially harmful or even deadly situations.
The Personal Protection Class for Women is structured into 4 segments:
- Opening Introduction
During the introduction instructors will introduce themselves, review various personal protection devices and their effectiveness and cover the techniques that are to follow in the following lessons. - Powerpoint Presentation
Your instructors will give a presentation regarding the various scenarios in which women encounter dangerous situations such as assault, robbery, rape and domestic abuse. This presentation will touch on real-world examples and the types of personalities who commit these crimes. - Practical 3-Stage Application
Students work in rotating groups, first learning about various techniques from the instructors. They then practice the techniques both with instructors and with 'mock assaulters' in padded gear to emulate real-world situations. The rotating groups are:- Striking Techniques
Effective methods of striking, punching, jabbing and kicking from different positions of attack - Pressure Point Stuns & Joint Manipulation
Demonstration of the use of sensitive pressure points and joint manipulation to incapacitate your attacker - Ground Fighting Techniques & Stuns
Methods of protection and incapacitation to be used in the event that your attacker has you on the ground
- Striking Techniques
- Question and answer session
Instructors and students will review the lessons learned and instructors will address any questions that may have arisen during the course of instruction.
